The Comparison of Xanthine Oxidase Activity of Smell Intestine with That in Liver of CCl©þ Treated Rats Previously Fed a Low or High Protein Diet

Abstract
To evaluate an effect of ? CC13 metabolized from CC14 in liver on the activity of xanthine oxidase in small intestine, CC14 (50% V/V in olive oil) was intraperitoneally injected twice at 0.1 ml/100g body weight to the rats fed a low (LP) or high protein diet(HP) while the control group fed LP or HP received only olive oil and then the xanthine oxidase activity of small intestine was compared with that of liver.
On the other hand, an effect of actinomycin D on the xanthine oxidase activities of small intestine was compared with that of liver.
The increasing rate of liver weight/body weight, serum levels of ALT and the decreasing rate of protein content to each control group was higher in CCl4-treated rats fed lP than those fed LP. But the significant differences in the small intestine weight/body weight and its protein content between CC14-treated rats fed LP and those fed HP was not found.
For the animal model of acute liver damage being not have the damaged nomycin D to the CCl4 - treated rats was higher in rats fed HP than in those f LP, The changing pattern in case of liver was similar with that of small intestine and the decreasing rats of small intestine xantine oxidase in all rats fed LP or HP was higher than that f liver.
From these results, it was then assumed that the increase of enzyme activity in small intestine may be due to the action of free radical metabolized from the CCL in liver cell of CCI, - treated rats.
Concomitantly, the unexpectable phenomenon showing the more decreasing rate of enzyme activity in actinomycin pretreated rats to the only CCI, treated fed HP than those fed LP indicates that the ? CC13 or the other factor may be acted as inhibitor on the xanthine oxidase enzyme.
